The Computing and Electronic Youth Clubs are a network of technical centers that were opened on September 8, 1987 as an initiative of our Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro to contribute to the socialization and computerization of the Cuban society. Emergence context The idea of the Youth Computing Clubs came out during the celebration of an exhibition of the Youth Technical Brigades (BTJ, Spanish acronyms) in the summer of 1987 at the Pabellon Cuba, in the capital of the country. For the first time a lot children were in front of a computer. So the interest for these machines grow bigger and bigger in kids of all ages who visited the place to interact with the intelligent keyboards. In just two months there were more than 35 000 visitors, mainly youngsters and children as a good evidence of its acceptance.
